-based jockey Oscar Flores pocketed the 1,000th victory of his career the evening of July 31 at the West Virginia track.

He guided Imperial Force to a front-running victory in the fourth race Thursday, a seven-furlong claiming event. Chuckie Inc.’s Imperial Force enjoyed a clear lead at each point of call and held on for a three-quarter-length score over runner-up and favorite Channel Changer.

Flores, who has been riding in the U.S. since 2002, boasts 10 career stakes wins. All of those stakes scores have come at Charles Town, including five in 2011.

He ranks among the top 10 riders in the jockey standings at the current Charles Town meeting.
