With more wins than any other jockey last week, Alex Cintron was voted Jockeys’ Guild Foundation Detox Jockey of the Week for November 11-17, 2019. The award is voted on by a panel of experts for riding accomplishments by members of the Jockeys’ Guild, the organization which represents more than 950 riders in North America. Jockey of the Week is sponsored by FoundationDetox.com, America’s #1 Equine Toxin Remover.

Alex Cintron led all North American jockeys by number of wins last week, with 11 victories in his 25 starts. He rode six of seven days with mounts at both Parx and Laurel Park.

In addition to maintaining a 44% win rate for the week, Cintron also hit the board in several starts and finished second or better in 56% of his races last week.

In 2019, Cintron has won 125 of his 628 starts and is 1,070 for 7,196 for his career to date. He reached a career milestone on July 8 at Delaware Park when he won his 1,000th career race. The accomplishment came just weeks after he won his first Grade 1 stake, the Highlander Stakes at Woodbine with Wet Your Whistle on June 29.

On Sunday, Cintron had the call on four starters at Laurel Park; he finished second in his first race but swept his other three races, winning by over 12 lengths combined.

Cintron is tied with Sheldon Russell as the leading rider for the current Laurel meet with 31 wins. He was the second leading rider at Delaware Park this summer, with 60 victories, and was the leading rider there during the 2013 meet.

Cintron was the seventh leading rider by total earnings for the week, cracking the top ten despite no stakes appearances for the week. He added $249,310 to his 2019 earnings, which now total $3,793,567. His career earnings exceed $33 million.
