NEW ORLEANS (December 6, 2015) – Author Bob Fortus, a member of the Fair Grounds Press Box Hall of Fame, will be on hand on Louisiana Champions Day on December 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to sign copies of his book Ride to Win: An Inside Look at the Jockey’s Craft, co-authored by Gary West.

Available at JockeyTalk360.com and the Fair Grounds gift shop, Ride to Win explores the complicated world of thoroughbred jockeys from various perspectives. From landing mounts to deciding race strategy, Fortus and West provide readers a look behind the curtain.

“There’s a lot more to it than meets the eye,” Fortus said. “Our goal was to shed light on everything jockeys do to try to reach the winner’s circle – a complex, fascinating process. These are amazing athletes.”

Hall of Fame jockeys Randy Romero and Eddie Delahoussaye will join Fortus to autograph copies of the book along with select jockeys from the 2015-16 Fair Grounds jockey colony. First post for Louisiana Champions Day presented by Acadian Ambulence is 12:30 p.m. and is highlighted by 11 stakes races for Louisiana-breds worth $1.1 million.
