From the Paulick Report
Jockey Kent Desormeaux, who has been out of the tack since suffering a kick from a horse in late September, is projected to return to the saddle on Sunday, according to a Daily Racing Form report.
The jockey was thrown from first-time runner She’s a Big Winner during the post parade at Santa Anita, and was kicked as he came up alongside the horse to grab her reins. Desormeaux, who walked away with a collapsed lung and broken ribs from the mishap, received doctor’s clearance to begin galloping on Wednesday, and plans to begin working horses Thursday morning.
The rider has spent his downtime visiting family in Louisiana, and is still planning to ride in the Breeders’ Cup.
