Despite several health setbacks lately, including the discovery of a stomach tumor while undergoing medical tests for an organ transplant, Hall of Fame jockey Randy Romero remains positive.
“I’m gonna beat this,” Romero told the Times-Picayune. “The doctors are very confident.”
Romero is scheduled for outpatient surgery Tuesday, where doctors will try to remove the tumor with a surgical laser. Until the tumor is removed, the jockey will not be able to receive a transplant.
“I’m getting beat up a little but what are you gonna do. It’s [the stomach tumor] a little bit of a setback, but you just have to get it done and move on.”
