Jockey Michael Davila Jr. registered the 1,000th riding victory of his career July 18 when he guided Chickaletta to a front-running victory in the first race at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack.

Through Monday, veteran Davila was tied for fourth in the Finger Lakes rider standings with 42 victories. A rider since 1997, Davila’s top win came in 2003 when he guided Shesastonecoldfox to victory in the $137,900 New York Breeders’ Futurity.

Christopher Dunn, Fortune Farm, and Gabrielle Farm’s Chickaletta scored a one-length win as the 6-5 favorite in Monday’s six-furlong claiming race to give Davila the milestone win.
