The Bill Hartack Foundation announced March 25th that Jockey Joel Rosario will receive the 6th annual Bill Hartack Award. The award is named for the memory and achievements of the late five time Kentucky Derby winning jockey Bill Hartack and will be presented April 17th at the Keeneland sales pavilion according to the Blood-Horse.
Rosario would bring home the roses in 2013 when he piloted Kentucky Derby favorite Orb first across the finish line in 2013. That wouldn’t be the young jockey’s only achievement in 2013, however. He was also aboard Animal Kingdom for his win in the Dubai World Cup Classic.
All proceeds from this year’s Hartack event will benefit the Belmont Child Care Association and the Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund as were selected by both Rosario and the Bill Hartack Foundation.
